The Three-Generation Legacy of Mirzayev Photography
01 — The Foundation (1940s)
Photography in the Mirzayev family is not just a profession; it is an enduring artistic lineage spanning three generations. The foundation was laid by my grandfather, Mirza Mirzayev (Mirzə Mirzəyev) (b. 1923), who began his pioneering work in professional photography in the 1940s. In an era where the craft demanded rigorous technical mastery, chemical precision, and pure dedication, he established the baseline of our family’s visual tradition, transforming light and silver halide into a lifetime legacy.

02 — The Continuation & Studio Evolution (1965)
The craft naturally transitioned to the next generation through my father, Elshad Mirzayev (Elşad Mirzəyev) (b. 1965). Raised within the authentic atmosphere of the photographic studio, he absorbed the nuances of analog cameras, darkroom processing, and studio lighting from early childhood. For him, photography became a native language rather than a trade. By carrying the family tradition forward into the modern era, he ensures that this visual heritage remains active and evolving to this day.

03 — The Convergence
Growing up in that very same studio environment, my childhood was shaped by the rhythm of shutters, the scent of prints, and the geometry of frames. This profound early exposure instinctively developed my visual perception long before my formal training.
My passion for imagery later found a powerful synergy with my academic education in Architecture. During my university years, I began integrating spatial thinking with visual media, using the camera not just to document, but to explore composition, scale, and structural narrative through experimental projects.

04 — Professional Practice Today
Today, my work stands at the intersection of a 70-year family heritage, structural architectural principles, and multidisciplinary design.
As a professional working across architectural photography, commercial visuals, and creative direction, I translate spatial forms into compelling visual stories. Every project I undertake is backed by generations of technical knowledge, refined through architectural theory, and executed with a modern, minimalist aesthetic.
